Set on the idyllic Côte Picardie, Golf de Belle Dune is surrounded by proper coastal scenery and is widely tipped as one of France's top links courses. Conceived in 1992 by Italian architect Jean-Manuel Rossi, it's the sort of layout that can hold its own against many of the UK and Ireland's best, especially when the wind gets up.

You'll find it on France's west coast, around 30 minutes south of Le Touquet, so it's an easy add-on if you're building a multi-course break in the area. The routing starts in mature woodland before spilling out into big, open dunes, which gives you a brilliant change of pace across the round.

At 6,434 yards it won't beat you up with length, but don't be fooled. With coastal gusts and firm, running turf, Belle Dune rewards proper links golf: keeping it in play, using the ground and thinking your way around. It's also ranked among the standout layouts in the region as a top course in Northern France, and it's a genuine "don't miss" if you're golfing the coast south of Calais.

Who is this for? Anyone planning a Le Touquet-area break who wants one day that feels like proper links golf, with dunes, wind and plenty of variety.

Who is it best for? UK golfers who love firm turf and creative shot-making, plus groups who want a top-quality course within easy reach of Calais and Le Touquet.

Golf De Belle Dune

Golf de Belle Dune

Carved through the dunes along the coastline, Belle Dune feels like two courses in one. The early holes wind through woodland where placement off the tee matters, then it opens into exposed links territory with gorse, whins and plenty of movement in the fairways.

It measures 6,434 yards, so it's not a brute on the card, but the coastal wind and firm ground can turn it into a proper test. If you enjoy shaping shots, keeping it down and letting the ball run, you'll have a lot of fun here. Bring a few extra clubs for the wind and expect exposure on the back nine, where the dunes open up and the breeze can dictate everything from club selection to strategy.

The routing delivers genuine variety. You begin in mature French woodland, playing parkland-style holes that demand accuracy off the tee, before the course opens up into traditional links terrain where the wind dictates club selection and strategy. The contrast is striking: one minute you're threading drives through trees, the next you're navigating rumpled fairways and elevated greens surrounded by dunes and coastal scrub.

The par-5 17th stands out as one of the most dramatic holes in Northern France, a sweeping test that epitomises everything Belle Dune offers: natural beauty, strategic interest and a genuine links challenge. The closing stretch brings you back towards the woodland, creating a memorable finish that ties the two halves of the course together.

Accompanying the beautiful golf course is a well-stocked pro shop, plus a bar and restaurant for a post-round refuel. It's straightforward to reach from Fort Mahon or Le Touquet, and comes highly recommended by regular golfing visitors to the coastline south of Calais.

Golf de Belle Dune is ranked as one of the best courses in Le Touquet.

Played on 22/10. Lovely course with a mix of tight, tree lined holes and some other more open holes. Greens showed some signs of a long season but still fairly good. Would rate this as the best course we’ve played after the two Harefoot courses.

Belle Dune is in my opinion the best course in the area. Far better than Le Touquet and Hardlot. There are so many great holes with water, dunes and forest. It's a great test of golf even off the Yellows. It's well maintained and very picturesque. If I could pick up Belle Dune and put it over this side of the channel, I'd join it tomorrow.

First experience of playing here. Fantastic course, in good condition. If you like putting on slowish greens it would suit you down to the ground

Fantastic setting and a beautiful course. The round was a real challenge for all of our group. We really enjoyed the test. The fairways and greens were excellent.

An exceptional course, better than both Le Touquet tracks. If we were to do the trip again we would play here more than once.
