Vila Gale Ampalius

This visit our room had no balcony as a group of 16 we are normally together but this time we were spread all over the hotel we have been to this hotel for a number of years.

arrived at hotel to find it in the middle of a building site , had to carry luggage and clubs 150 yards from main road through a muddy car park being used as site entrance , front of hotel boarded off, distance from hotel to building site two meters,no outdoor area to sit and have coffee or smoke ,diggers and dumpers starting work 7.30 , every time you left hotel you had to walk through all the mud on path and car park, twice we had to wait by main road for minibus in the rain,when we originally tried to book our trip we asked for villa gale marina but was told it was under renovation but did not seem to be , this was our forth trip here and everything has been more than fine up until this trip , most disappointed , would like some kind of refund or voucher for next years trip , having said that the rest of the trip was 1st class

Stayed here many times on golf breaks. Great location just off the marina, friendly & helpful staff and clean comfortable rooms. Due to its low cost we are able to book individual rooms, which is very nice

Very pleasant and comfortable rooms. Had a balcony facing out towards the tennis courts with part sea view. Really lovely hotel in an ideal location. Could do with some up to date decor to brighten it up, quite dark furnishings on entrance. One gripe, having to pay 17.50 euros per room to have the safe for seven days, this should surely be a standard item? Would definitely return to this hotel as overall we really enjoyed our stay. A bonus having a fridge in the room to keep drinks cold.

Hotel is great. Pity about the shuttle service to from golf courses which is chaotic at best. We took taxis one day out of frustration. Its not a hotel issue in fairness but there's no where else to comment. Shuttle to/from airport was excellent both ways.

The addition of a new pool was most welcomed. it was quieter than the original pool by the pool bar with no piped music. We only breakfasted in the hotel. There was a huge choice of food including lovely fruit and pasteries. The bacon however was not good and the egg station was slow and the eggs often lukewarm.

Hotel is fine but it always takes ages to book in on the first day which if you are on a tight schedule to play golf on that day is very frustrating

We have stayed at this hotel many times and keep going back, reason being of its central location to all the amenities of the marina and other attractions. The hotel is situated right on the beach and the 2 external and 1 internal pools are great, in my opinion its one of the best hotels in Vilamoura and I been going there for over 16 years.

Nice hotel in great location. Perfect for golf and access to the courses in the area. Also very close to the Marina. The only negative is the length of time it took reception to serve you. Apart from that really enjoyed the stay

Lovely hotel in a fantastic location right on the beach. Only thing that let it down is the rooms could do with updating other than that it’s superb

The staff were very helpful and arrange for two birthday cakes to be made whilst we were there. Room were clean and comfortable. A very enjoyable stay.

Great location and friendly staff.

bus transfers part of the trip they are not frequent enough, staff at hotel just shrug their shoulders, last bus from course 7.30pm, so if you have an afternoon tee, you are rushing to get a transfer back to hotel

Good golfer hotel all you needed No problems

very dissapointed with golf transfers from the hotel to and from the course, we ended up getting taxis other wise we would have missed our tee times

We arrived at Faro and very quickly found our the man who was to drive us to our hotel, Vila Gale Ampalius.  We asked him if the supermarket was still open, but his English was not too good and 15 minutes later he pulled into a supermarket so that we could do some quick shopping.  What a star!  We checked in and was shown to our rooms on the 6th floor. It was a very large room, facing the sea, even equipped with a kitchen.  Wow, when I pulled back the curtains and stepped on to the balcony, it was beach, sea and blue sky - a simply stunning view and south facing.

We had arranged 5 rounds of golf on the Old Course, Millenium, Pinhal and 2 on Laguna.

The next morning we were picked up no more than 10 minutes after arranging transport to the course.  It was a joy to play all 5 - they were dry, well manicured, and the greens were like lightening.  After sitting in the sun enjoying a drink and talking about the birdies and pars, we were transported back to our hotel.  All so easy.

The hotel staff were very courteous, the breakfast was extremely good and a wide choice to be had.  The location was  good, just a 5 minute walk to the Marina and restaurants.

This is our fourth time we have travelled with Your Golf Travel and I can see nothing to change that.
