The Pines Course is the main attraction at Sueno, measuring over 7,000 yards from the championship tees and playing every inch of that distance. Designer David Jones has built a layout that borrows heavily from links golf, with rugged shaping, enormous water hazards and expanses of sand that punish anything offline. It's routed through mature pine forest, which gives the course its name and adds a parkland feel to what is otherwise a very strategic, target-golf test.

The Pines is beautiful, but it's also stern. Water comes into play on multiple holes, the bunkering is aggressive and the greens are large, undulating and quick. This is championship golf and it's one of the finest layouts in Belek. In my opinion, it's the tougher of the two and the one you'll remember if your driver's even slightly off. Mid-to-low handicappers will love the challenge, while higher handicappers will need to play smart and use the forward tees to keep the round enjoyable.

Signature hole: No. 7, Par 3, 214 yards (White), SI 6

Sueno's signature hole is a proper test. You're carrying 214 yards over water to a green with a pin positioned dangerously close to a greenside bunker. There's little margin for error and the safe play is to aim away from the flag, but even then, a two-putt is far from guaranteed. It's the kind of hole that separates good rounds from great ones and it's worth sitting on the terrace afterwards with a drink to watch the next groups take it on.

Sueno's second course is the Dunes, a links-inspired layout that's suitable for golfers of all standards but still measures over 6,500 yards. It's more forgiving than the Pines, with wider fairways and fewer forced carries, but it's no pushover. Enormous bunkers, links-style shaping and firm, fast-running turf mean you'll need to think your way around rather than simply overpowering it.

The Dunes is a great complement to the Pines. Where the Pines demands precision, the Dunes rewards creativity and course management. The closing hole is the lasting memory, a par 3 to an island green that's as dramatic as anything you'll find in Turkey. It's a fitting finish to a course that's all about strategy and it's the kind of hole that'll have you teeing it up again the next day just to see if you can stick it close.

Once you've finished your round, sit on the terrace overlooking four of the greens from both the Dunes and Pines courses. If you're playing in a group, tee off in the first four-ball so you can watch the rest of your party take on the island greens, preferably with a cold drink in hand.
