Arguably the top golf break destination in the South West of England, St Mellion Estate boasts two golf courses, one of which has hosted the European Tour, making it one of the finest 36-hole venues in the UK. While you’ll definitely want to play The Kernow Course, The Nicklaus Course the main event, designed by the Bear, its one of England’s top layouts.
Located on the fringes of breathtaking Tamar Valley, less than 30 minutes from Plymouth, St Mellion has more than its outstanding golf resume attracting visitors. The 4* resort oozes luxury from the moment you arrive, step out of the lavish bedrooms and experience the famous Elemis Spa or award-winning An Boesti Restaurant.

St Mellion is arguably the premier golfing destination in the South-West, boasting two championship courses, and has welcomed the European Tour's elite on no less than six occasions for the Benson and Hedges International.
Nicklaus Course
Opened in 1987, the Nicklaus Course at St Mellion was the Golden Bear's first project in the UK, and to this day Jack rates it as one of his best creations. The £2.5 million investment now complete was overseen by the Nicklaus design team.
From the championship tee markers the course measures 7,019 yards and is a thorough examination, but there are tees to suit golfers of all abilities. The Nicklaus is typical of its designer's architectural ethos, with a premium being placed on finding the correct position from the elevated tees in order to attack the flags. Inaccuracy will be punished severely by the strategically positioned bunkers and water hazards around this South-Western gem.
Did you know? Jack Nicklaus speaks highly of his design, going as far as to say St Mellion is 'potentially the finest golf course in Europe'.
Formerly known as the Old Course, St Mellion's Kernow is often in the shadow of Jack Nicklaus' creation next door, but it is a fine championship layout in its own right. Though not particularly long by modern standards - the Kernow measures 5,782 yards - there is no shortage of challenge and intrigue.
A major face-lift has seen the addition of new lakes and bunkers, plus some totally rebuilt putting surfaces. Spectacular scenery surrounds the course, whose highlights include the short 12th, where the green is guarded closely by water, and the memorable par-4 closing hole which demands two excellent strikes.

We returned to St Mellion after previous tour 4 yrs ago.
The golf and pro shop staff were very obliging and helpful. The courses were both in pretty good condition and as tough as ever!
The actual hotel unfortunately was in our opinion below par and not a 4 star establishment.
Uncomfortable beds that make premier Inns positively ultra deluxe.
A la crate restaurant with shortages of wine on both nights and a disappointing menu taboot.
We discussed with the management and a price adjustment was agreed.
We will not be placing review on trip advisor as that is not our style.
Like so many of my school reports read,
Tries hard but so much potential left wanting

Good resort hotel and able to take a booking where all the group wanted single rooms. Food excellent on both evenings served by attentive staff. Hotel needs better signage as it is so easy to get confused/lost around the complex.

Hotel was perfectly situated within very short walk from the car park and to the 1st Tees at the Nicklaus and Kernow courses.
Staff were very welcoming and attentive.
Hotel room was very clean and tidy.
Food in the restaurant and bar was excellent.

Staff were great, we stayed in a twin room, the single bed was very small and rock hard mattress, apart from that great resort.

Could not have asked for a better place to go. The hotel was immaculate, the staff friendly and helpful, the food delicious and the room (top floor overlooking the golf course) great. What more could you want. Just wish I had taken the swimsuit to enjoy the spa.

All the staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good and service was swift. Only slight change would be that the 3 of us found the beds too hard.

just exceptional all round.

Wonderful views. reception staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was superb. Great pool area to wind down in after our round. The only criticism was the hotel felt a little bit tired with creaky floors in the accommodation part of the hotel.

Best value for money golf trip I've ever been on hotel and rooms spotless staff could not do enough for you

We recently returned from our second visit to the St Mellion
resort. This complex is a great place to visit whether you play golf or
not, as there is plenty to do and see. The Kernow course is a lovely
parkland course set in rolling countryside with great views. The quality
of the fairways and greens is excellent and the course marshals ensure that the
pace of play is never too slow.
The Hotel is of a very high standard too, and prices are
very reasonable compared to other resorts that I have stayed in. The service
was excellent with friendly and speedy members of staff who never kept you
waiting for food or drinks. The quality of food and variety meant that there
was a choice for everyone, including veggie options. Unlike a few other
resorts that we have visited there was not a separate menu for guests visiting
on a golf holiday and very few supplements to pay.
I would certainly recommend a golf break at St Mellion and
will be going back for a third visit hopefully later in the year. 10/10

I would like to thank everyone at yourgolftravel.com for
helping me organize our trip to St Mellion.
The Hotel was stunning and all the staff were very helpful
indeed. The pro in the golf shop even gave us a tour of the place and gave us
good advice on how you tackle the golf courses.
All twelve of us thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would love
to return back one day to take on the Nicklaus course once more.
We would certainly recommend St Mellion to
other golfers and would do so for all different size groups & societies.

Julie and I really enjoyed our stay at St Mellion,
where all the staff in the hotel and golf course were helpful and very
friendly. The food was excellent too, with plenty of choice from the menu. The
room was clean and comfortable and the leisure facilities were excellent.
The golf courses were also in excellent condition,
especially the greens. The Nicklaus Course is superb and some of the holes are
truly stunning. It is a stern test of golf and I would play it totally
differently when I go back. It is more of plotting your way round type of
course and at times frustrated me, but that was from not knowing the course. It
is a tough walk, but I did not see the benefit of a buggy as they have to stick
to the cart paths on the Nicklaus course.
We were lucky to have fantastic weather but I would love to
go back as the whole experience was superb.

St Mellion is a resort which we have wanted to try out for a
few years. Now having now spent a weekend there, playing both courses during
our stay, we were not disappointed. What a great venue!
It's well sign posted, so easy to find, the rooms are very
clean and extremely comfortable, the staff at the venue are very friendly and
helpful and the golf courses themselves are very well maintained and a good
challenge to all levels of golfer. I would recommend buggies though as it is a
very hilly course.
Food and drink is of a very good standard and at a
reasonable price too.
Yourgolftravel sorted out the weekend for us and did a great
job. We will be back. 10/10

I organised for 2 societies to go to St Mellion (32 people
altogether) to play against each other on both the Kernow and Nicklaus courses.
Overall the courses were in good condition although the tees on the Nicklaus
were looking a bit tired.
The rooms were good and the food was good too and I didn't
have any complaints from the lads. Unfortunately the cost of drinks in the bar
was a bit steep, but after a few tend not to worry about it!
Members of staff in hotel and pro shop were friendly and
helpful and all things considered, it's an ideal place for a weekend golf
break.
Thanks to Your Golf Travel who managed to quickly get it all
booked up. Overall everything ran smoothly and would recommend you to mates.
