San Roque Golf & Resort

The San Golf & Resort is a popular place to play for golfers visiting Sotogrande and The Costa del Sol. Whilst the fairways are wide, over 100 bunkers line the holes making course management key to find the small and undulating greens. With amazing views and elevated tee-shots a round at San Roque New is one that'll use almost every club in your bag.

San Roque New Course opened in 2003 and was quick to be ranked within the Top 100 Golf Courses in Europe. The very best of professional golf has also played at the course as the host of The Spanish Open in 2006 as well as European Tour Qualifying School.

Located in one of the best golfing hotspots in Europe, San Roque is just minutes from the likes of Valderrama, Real Club de Sotogrande, La Reserva and Almenara. Making a round at San Roque New a must for anyone visiting this part of Spain.

In the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja lies the San Roque Club, whose two outstanding championship golf courses are the reason behind its continued position within the elite of Andalucian golfing resorts.

San Roque Golf & Resort

In 2003 the San Roque Golf & Resort welcomed its a championship layout designed and constructed by the esteemed American architect, Perry Dye. The course measures a colossal 7,246 yards from the tips, and although it differs greatly in style to its neighbour, it presents an equally formidable challenge.

With unparalleled views over the Guadalquiton River and the amazing azure of the Mediterranean, the New is an unforgettable experience, and was rewarded with the 2006 Spanish Open. More than 100 strategically positioned bunkers guard the impeccable fairways and greens, and while the cork tree-lined targets are more forgiving than the Old, visiting golfers will require sound strategy and course management to score well.

With an internationally renowned golf academy and two of the region's finest championship course, visiting the San Roque Golf & Resort is an essential component of any good golfing holiday in Southern Spain.

The fairways are narrow and Tree lined with bunkers and waste areas everywhere. The course is not in good condition and needs a lot of TLC to bring it up to scratch. The staff were very helpful taking our clubs to and from our transport but would not play it again

I was, and still am, a big fan of the late Seve Ballesteros and have had the pleasure of playing one of his designed courses before (Royol Obidos in Portugal), so I was really looking forward to playing this Seve Co-designed course at San Roque and I was not disappointed, it was great. I should also mention that the Caddy Master was really "on the ball" and very helpful, when realising that there was going the be a bit of a back log on the first tee, he arranged for my wife and I to start at the tenth and personally escorted us to it. All the staff in the shop and club house were very nice and it was a pleasure to be there. If there is only one down side is that a buggy for the round (which was obligatory) cost 45 Euros which being half Scottish I thought was a bit steep.
