Pasha Course, Antalya GC

The Pasha Course at Antalya Golf Club is a firm favourite on Turkey's Belek coast and, in my opinion, it's the ideal first round if you're travelling with a mixed-ability group. Part of the Sirene Belek Golf Hotel complex, this 18-hole layout sits alongside The Sultan, but it asks very different questions.

Designed by European Golf Design and David Jones, The Pasha plays just over 6,300 yards from the championship tees. On paper it's the shorter sibling, but I wouldn't turn up expecting a gentle knock about. The real defence is in the undulating greens, clever bunkering and water that's never far away if you lose one offline.

There are a few proper risk-and-reward moments too. The 11th is the headline act, a driveable par 4 of around 300 yards with water tight down the left and bunkers waiting around the green. Go for it and you could be putting for eagle. Get greedy and you can just as easily be grinding out bogey.

The par 5 13th is another great hole, with water up the right that makes you think twice before taking on the green in two. Add in views of the Taurus Mountains and you might spot the odd tortoise or hoopoe bird during your round.

If you're planning a Belek golf holiday, I'd slot Pasha in early doors, then step up to The Sultan later in the trip.

Who is this for? Mixed-ability groups who want a fun, tactical round that doesn't rely on 280-yard carries.

Who is it best for? Mid to high handicappers, or anyone wanting a confidence-building round before taking on The Sultan.

The Pasha Course at Antalya Golf Club is ranked as one of the best courses in Turkey.

Pasha Course, Antalya GC

The Pasha Course is the second layout at Antalya Golf Club, and it's a more appropriate proposition for the average golfing visitor. While it benefits from the same brilliant views as The Sultan, its full length of 6,267 yards makes it manageable for everyone, from single-figure players to those carrying higher handicaps.

The advantage of the long hitters is nullified around The Pasha. Its defence lies in tricky dog-legs, sloping greens and strategically positioned bunkers. You'll need to plot your way around rather than simply overpower it. The course requires smart, patient golf, though it demands a bit less accuracy than The Sultan thanks to wider fairways and more generous landing areas.

That said, large water hazards and perfectly placed bunkers will make sure you stay fully switched on throughout the round. The views add to the course's abundant character, with the Taurus Mountains visible in the distance and local wildlife adding another twist to the experience.

The par 5 13th is a classic risk-reward hole with water up the right side that really protects the green. It's one of the many highlights across the 18 holes. A course not to be underestimated and a great way to build up to The Sultan, or simply enjoy as a standalone round in its own right.

Antalya Golf Club works closely with the PGA of Turkey, and the practice facilities reflect that pedigree. The state-of-the-art range, short game area and putting greens give you everything you need to hone your game, and expert tuition is available if you want to sharpen up before tackling either course. The pro shop is well stocked with the latest equipment and merchandise.

More of a thinking player's course than its neighbour, The Pasha is the perfect foil for the lengthy Sultan layout, which is why Antalya Golf Club has something for everyone.

See the comments for Sultan course. Good condition considering recent hollow tining and other maintenance work. Course was empty, so pace of play was good. Clubhouse welcoming. Value for money good with summer cart deal for €10. The course is considerably shorter, and much easier, than the Sultan. Very wide fairways, mid-range par threes, and reachable par 5s made this a fun course to play on holiday, with the slow, receptive greens (due to the recent work) flattering the scorecard. Excellent condition given the time of year, and there are some memorable holes with water and pines giving a very picuresque framing of the holes. Excellent fun, good value - I will be back.
