Set in the enchanting woodland of the Cheshire countryside, Mottram Hall is the perfect spot for a country retreat, boasting a luxury Georgian country house hotel and epic 18-hole championship golf course.

The host of the 2013 European Senior's PGA Championship, the layout at Mottram Hall makes for an interesting round, the front 9 offers plenty of chances to score, but the back 9 runs through dense woodland, threating to take back shots you’ve gained. Although Mottram Hall is surrounded by 270 acres of stunning natural scenery, the hotel is only 30 minutes from Manchester and less than 15 minutes from the Peak District National Park.

The hotel is splendid on the inside, with a cosy, boutique design and features stunning private gardens. The award-winning spa is the perfect place to unwind after a round and the AA Rosette awarded restaurants offer a number of delightful dining options.

Mottram Hall

Mottram Hall’s 7,006 yard 18-hole, Par 72 Championship golf course in Cheshire, is one of a kind. The host venue for the 2013 European Senior's PGA Championship; its tree-lined fairways and subtle undulating greens, present a challenge to even the most seasoned golfer.

Set in 270 acres of Cheshire's finest parkland and located one mile from the picturesque village of Prestbury, the tricky, well-guarded greens are broken up into two contrasting circuits of nine. The front nine, with its impressive backdrop of the 18th Century Hall, gently rolls over meadowland and offers the golfer many chances to make a score. The back nine winds through rich woodland and is a much more demanding test of golf.

Thanks to a £1.5 million refurbishment, the golfing facilities are second to none. Mid game, stop at the Halfway House for well-earned refreshments and light bites before taking on the last nine holes, or head upstairs to The Claret Jug restaurant at the end of your game and enjoy a cool beer and a hearty British classic.

Fantastic hotel, the food is amazing.Only one downside is they have just opened a champagne bar in the main hotel.(only bar)They don't sell draught beer, the hall where they do weddings & the clubhouse with shuts ar 5.So you could be at one of the function does & get a pint.If your staying at the hotel you cannot, this unfair, apart from that it was perfect.

the hotel was excellent but due to a wedding reception the bar was closed until 8pm.Also due to renovations the spa was out of action which probably reflected the price.however we went into Wimslow to eat which was close by and there were many bars and restaurants to choose from. The staff were friendly and attentive and the room and grounds lovely.

Great facilities, staff and service, very flexible and eager to please. Food was generous regarding portion size and quality was first rate. VFM was rated as a 4 only for the fact that the beverage prices were only just this side of VFM based on the venue.

Staff were brilliant. So friendly, great service. Unfortunately we had a room next to the deliveries entrance. ....5.40 am was not funny , also must be where the staff park , so what must have been late night staff leaving...2/3/4 am so had no sleep!! Good choice at breakfast. Meals in the Claret Jug were good.

Horrendous, didn’t sleep a wink, maybe grabbed a couple of hours due to geese and ducks, loads of them screaming all night, I would have thought the night staff would have shoo’d them away so it’s residents could sleep, terribly unpleasant. 3 times my room card didn’t work, room very small, food portions were tiny and lots and lots of children running riot in the bar until midnight. One bar man in the main bar all night made getting a drink tricky also. I will not be going back.

Hotel as expected, but a mix up over dinner booking - they hadn’t got us down. I’m afraid the course was in very poor condition - tees were a disgrace and greens very slow and uneven - I appreciate grass growth is prolific this spring, but it is clear that the greens team are not on top of things.

Great hotel and good leisure facilities. We ate in separate room near Claret Jug and food / service was excellent. Second night in hotel restaurant was a bit of a nightmare. Really busy, slow service and problems with new computer system. We were a large group of 36.

Course was in very good condition, more so considering the conditions recently. Fairways were well manicured, well prepared and presented as were the greens. The rough was punishing but the fairways were wide enough that only the most errant shot was accepted. Greens were true, rolled well and accepted a good solid shot. Bunkers had been affected by the weather but the starter explained the situation fully and this alleviated any problems which may have arisen.

Bunkers were GUR in August as too much compacted sand - lack of greenkeepers ?

I have never seen tee boxes quit like it! Appalling condition, we had to tee off from the side of the tee box were there was some grass! The golf course layout was fine but the condition was poor, greens were below average I would give this place a miss.

The tee's were a little but bare and some of the greens were spiked, but it is October and i understand that but apart from that the course was in brilliant shape considering the amount of rain that had fallen the day before we arrived and was still pouring on our 1st day. This is the second time myself and 27 friends have stayed and played at Mottram Hall and not one complained about anything, thank you all at Mottram Hall. If you get the chance to stay and play here please get in touch with Your Golf Travel and they will get you a fantastic value for your money.

Good course with back 9 a real test with some super holes 10,13,15 and 17. Greens had been treated and were very bumpy. Course was well marshalled and good pace of play. Staff in pro shop were really helpful. All my group of mixed abilities liked the course.
