Lingfield Park

The added bonus is access to the excellent Lingfield Park Golf Course, located onsite and recently improved to offer a splendid 6,487 yard test. Located within the grounds of the racecourse, the golf at Lingfield Park is the perfect complement.

As the host of numerous local PGA events, including The Surrey Open, Lingfield Park is a superb test of golf from the back tees, rewarding those who are able to drive accurately and take advantage of it's design to open up greens and second shots. With many testing tee-shots on display, most notably on the front 9 with it's tree-lined holes, those with a keen ability off the tee will be score well here. The course enjoys great views and numerous elevations so what the course lacks in length is more than made up by the natural landscape.

Great big rooms, good spa, nice golf course, perfect for a weekend of golf, spa and the races right next door. However the restaurant is not good enough and is unable to cater for multiple people or tables. Very ordinary menu and food arriving cold, or not at all. Such a pity as the restaurant lets down the whole hotel.

The hotel was excellent for our trip. Rooms were a good size, clean, fresh and well furnished. The staff were all very friendly, and the race course just outside the window was an added bonus.

Despite heavy rain the course was in good condition, the greens were true, and the whole break was first class. We have been here several times before and it has always been excellent...

Great hotel, staff really helpful. Spa facilities are nice an clean. Restaurant and food is good. We had a room overlooking the race course which would be great on a race day. Overall a very nice hotel and would visit again. The bar could do with a big screen for sport.

Everything was great except for the beds in our room, they were both completely broken and should be thrown away. Our backs hurt after the first night, we complained and they brought some extra mattress on top of one of the beds that didn´t really fix the problem as it was really just like a duvet, way too soft to do anything for a broken mattress. The staff admitted that there were some rooms with broken beds. Otherwise the stay was really great and we would love to come back as long as we would be sure that the bed problem would be fixed.

Although the hotel was as you would expect a Marriott Hotel to be it was let down by the price of drinks, the food was also overpriced not what you expect to pay for a golf visit.

Great hotel with friendly staff, from front of house all the way through to the restaurant. Food in the restaurant for dinner was reasonable, and the service was very good. Breakfast spread very good, with lots of choice hot and cold, and great to be able to get fresh eggs to order. Rooms, very spacious and two lovely big queen beds per room - great walk in shower and very nice toiletries.

Nice Hotel situated perfectly for the golf course and Race track, Light and airy interior and very good pool and spa facilities, Staff were all very helpful and attentive and food was good, the evening meal set menu could be a bit more adventurous and varied with maybe an option to upgrade to a la carte. Due to its location on flight path for Gatwick all bedroom windows were sealed and although no noise whatsoever from Planes it would be nice to be able to have the option of getting some freah air into the room but overall very clean well appointed and very comfortable

We arrived at Lingfield Park a couple of hours before our tee-time, with first impressions being very positive, seeing the hotel situated right beside Lingfield Park racecourse. We made contact with the friendly staff in the pro shop who directed us to the nearby spike bar, where we enjoyed a reasonably priced light lunch & coffee.

At our allotted tee-time, we made our way to the first tee. The ground did seem a little wet from the recent heavy rain, but we were all keen to get started on a reasonably straight forward par three.

As mentioned earlier, the course was indeed quite wet, with the fairways being a little 'fluffy' which was certainly due to the amount of rain that had fallen & the staff not being able to cut them. The greens however were the best we had seen in a long time and although a little slow they were very 'true,' & in excellent condition overall.

On our return to the hotel, we checked in & were told that we had full access to the pool, sauna & fitness areas which was a great bonus. The rooms were excellent, looking out over the racecourse, with comfortable beds, fluffy towels & tea & coffee making facilities.

Following pre-dinner drinks at the bar (not the cheapest unfortunately!) we took our places in the restaurant where we were informed by the waiting staff that we could choose from the a la carte menu, with just a couple of the choices attracting a small supplement.

The standard of food was excellent, with everyone happy with their respective choices, particularly the belly-pork in my case!

Following dinner, it was back to the bar where, as mentioned earlier, the bar prices were slightly on the high side. We were all in a good mood following the golf & good food though, so we didn't let this spoil the evening.

The next morning we played our second round, and again found the course to be on the wet side, due to more overnight rain. The greens appeared to have had a light cut, and were again in excellent condition.

Although the course was not particularly long, just under 6,000 yards off the yellow tees, quite a few of the fairways could be described as 'tight', so accuracy is important off the tee. Following on behind our group was a European PGA junior event that allowed us to see how good we could have been at an early age had we bothered to practice just a little bit more!

At the end of the round we again retired to the spike bar where we had lunch and the presentation of the prizes. All were in agreement that we had had an excellent stay at a first class hotel, with great food, friendly & attentive staff and a couple of great rounds of golf thrown in for good measure.

This was the second time we have used Your Golf Travel and we would most definitely use you guys again...we will just have to wait for the weather to warm up first!

Thanks again for your help in arranging our golf trip.

The course is a lovely mature course that meanders through the countryside surrounding the Lingfield estate. It is therefore a difficult course if you are not accurate off the tees. Our group lost a lot of balls throughout the weekend, but fully accept that is our poor playing than anything else! I think those that have a handicap or more than 20 may struggle, or just accept that they will be a few balls down at the end of the day. Despite that our group of 8 were all keen to visit and play again, and all really enjoyed the weekend.

This is a really nice course, tree lined and very private. It is hilly so I would recommend a trolley. Greens were in good condition (bit slow but they had been spiked for autumn). There are some pretty holes. We had the course to our selves. Only suggestion to green keepers would be to remove some of the grass from "in the bunkers". Would recommend this to any golfer, great value too.

The course in general looked like it was being run down. The bunkers had grass growing in them, tee boxes were poor, nothing like the last time we played here. We will not be returning to this venue again.

What a shame - Lingfield Park has a great layout, with some very nice testing holes BUT..... the condition of the course is very poor - the fairways need to be cut to a level below the first cut of rough - it was almost as there was not distinction between the fairway and the first cut of rough. Greens need attention, top dressed, hollow tined and rolled. Bunkers - when you see bunkers with grass growing through you know there is total lack of attention by green keeping staff. There is no excuse for the bunkers not to have been raked - one of my fellow golfers mentioned this one of the gents at the pro shop, who looked at him as though he was from a different planet!! Get the course sorted and Lingfield will be a little gem in Surrey.

A great 3 days and passable 3 rounds!!, middle day weather was not too kind but sheltered in Buggy for a few periods so didnt get wet. There are a few water features to overcome but not too much of a problem overall a good 6500 or so yards course not too hilly or arduous and fairly wide fairways. September before the leaves start to cover the course was a good time to go and will go again
