La Finca Resort

9.0
Excellent See all 31 reviews

Just over 30 minutes from Alicante Airport, La Finca Resort sits in the rolling landscape of Costa Blanca, with the Escotera mountains framing a course that's highly regarded across Spain. Designed by José 'Pepe' Gancedo, it's a layout that makes the most of the natural movement in the land. You'll find plenty of elevation change, shaped fairways and greens that reward the right side of the hole, so it's not simply a case of standing up and smashing driver.

What I like here is that it feels like a complete resort rather than a golf course with a hotel bolted on. The 5-star hotel looks out over the course and manicured gardens, the food offering is a genuine strength and the spa gives you a proper off-course option when someone in the group fancies a slower day. It's an easy one to recommend for couples and mixed groups because the non-golf bits stand up on their own.

If you're building a longer break, it's also a handy base for ticking off more Costa Blanca golf. Villamartin Golf Club and Golf Las Ramblas are both a short drive away and give you a nice change of style alongside La Finca's resort-championship test.

Who is this for? Golfers who want a quality 5-star base where golf is the main event, with enough spa, pool and food options to keep everyone happy. It suits groups looking for a more relaxed, resort-first feel than some of the busier hotspots along the coast.

Who is it best for? Mid to low handicappers who enjoy a strategic test on undulating ground, couples mixing golf and relaxation, and groups who would rather play three great rounds than squeeze in five for the sake of it.

Play La Finca as part of your next Costa Blanca golf holiday and we'll help you shape the best round mix for your group.

Golf Courses at La Finca Resort

La Finca Golf Course

Golf La Finca has 18 holes designed by the prestigious Spanish designer Pepe Gancedo and features generous fairways and spectacular greens. While playing from the back tees will pose a challenge to the more talented golfer, all standards of player can find their comfort zone from forward tee positions.

The course isn't the most established in Spain but in its relatively short existence it has forged quite a reputation thanks in large part to exciting design features including an island green. The 6,900-yard course features plenty of water so a few spare balls are a must and while not overly long, the nature of the terrain makes walking the course, unless fit for the challenge, somewhat tiresome; taking a buggy is therefore recommended.

Mount Escotera provides a stunning background to the course and with excellent practice facilities on site, golfers can warm up before their rounds to their heart's content.

La Finca is ranked as one of the best courses in Costa Blanca

Golf Facilities

While staying at La Finca you can take advantage of the golf academy to improve your skills or warm up before your round on the driving range, chipping area, practice bunkers and putting green

After golf the Club House Terraza is the perfect place to relax, a wide range of snacks, salads, pizzas, sandwiches or hamburgers are on the menu as well as a good range of refreshing drinks.

Accommodation at La Finca Resort

The 120 rooms at La Finca Resort strike a balance between modern design and genuine comfort. Bright, spacious and beautifully finished, each room is built around either a king-size bed or two doubles, the kind that actually deliver a proper night's sleep after a long day on the course. Satellite LCD TV, internet access, telephone and a safety box come as standard, but the real draw for many guests is the terrace.

Select rooms open onto private outdoor space with sun loungers, where you can sit with a coffee at sunrise and watch the first groups head out onto the fairways, the mountains still shadowed in the distance. It's one of those small details that makes a resort stay feel more personal, especially if you're the type who likes a quiet moment before the day gets going.

The restaurant is a real highlight locally, with Mediterranean menus that suit both post-round lunches and longer, relaxed dinners. The food goes well beyond the usual resort fare, with varied options and enough choice to keep a week-long stay interesting. If you're after something lighter, the café offers refreshments throughout the day, perfect for a quick bite between rounds or a late afternoon drink overlooking the course.

Beyond golf, the resort offers tennis, cycling routes across the surrounding countryside, and the on-site spa is a proper wind-down, with a full treatment menu and facilities that make it worth a visit even on a non-golf day. The heated indoor and outdoor pools include a children's area, making this a viable option for families or mixed groups where not everyone is playing every day.

Paddle tennis courts, a poolside snack bar, sun terrace, gym and steam room round out the facilities on-site. If you fancy a change of scene, the nearby sandy beach is within easy reach, where loungers and parasols can be hired. Diving and sailing are also available locally for those who want to mix the fairways with the coastline.

La Finca Hotel was once again lovely to stay at for our trip. Rooms are exceptional and facilities very good. Our only disappoint this trip was our meal in the restaurant which was poor with poor service as there was a large golf society dining and we felt like second class diners!

Very nice hotel, all the staff were incredibly helpful. Food in the restaurant was very nice and not overpriced, would 100% recommend for a trip away, transfers to and from the courses work very well, we will be going back in a few years.

Enjoyable stay at La Finca Golf Resort, good location about 30 minutes drive from Villamartin & Las Ramblas. 2 of our 4 ball did not play Villamartin due to the heavy rain all day but we all enjoyed Finca & Ramblas in excellent condition. Shuttle service to and from airport and courses was excellent. Good hot and cold buffet breakfast and rooms were very comfortable. The only complaint was the 15 euro charge to use the spa facilities, we expected this to be part of the hotel price to use indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi etc !! Overall would recommend others to stay here.

Perfect location for staying if playing the La Finca golf courses. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the wide selections of food for all meals is great, perfectly satisfactory in terms of taste and quantity. Staff are helpful and friendly.

Rooms were very comfotable. They did lack drawer storage space. Kept clean & tidy by maids. All areas of the hotel were spotlessly maintained. The DBB menu was a restricted version of the a la crate menu which did not change during our stay.Suspect most people did not stay for full week hence lack of menu changes. In compensation for this they allowed us to choose anything we wanted on the last night at no extra cost. All staff in the hotel were most attentive & caring & any issues were speedily resolved.

We like La Finca as a course ... except the 17th which needs a better design. Having said that we enjoyed our two rounds and despite our varying handicaps all felt it was very playable.

Even with bad weather the course was great considering the amount of rain and no buggies allowed enjoyed it

As per everything else with the trip the course was great, some very interesting/impressive holes. The Course is slightly longer than Las Ramblas but being open it was not to much of a problem. Food and drink was very well priced, 4 euros for a pint of Amstel.Marshalls were all great which made the round very relaxing. Again its a shame nobody repairs pitch marks.

Great course, perfect weather. Quite a long course, so a buggy is required. We had the advantage that we played a couple of rounds just before La Finca hosted a competition, so the course had been groomed perfectly.

A good course. The 16th and 17th were a bit smelly and the mud was dangerous, but I think they had recently had torrential rain and they were working to sort it. It didn’t spoil our enjoyment.

Course in excellent condition..greens very fast but great condition too. Some areas between holes being upgraded. Long course with long walks between green& tees ...we used buggies which we recommend. Occasional confusion as to direction to tees ...better signage would help. Enjoyed the experience.
